Use essential oils to treat scars. A variety of oils have been shown to be helpful such as tea tree, lavender, everlasting or immortelle, mandarin, neroli, neem, tangerine and sandalwood. Perform a skin test before you use any essential oils to make sure you are not allergic to them. Refer to the tips section for how to perform a patch test.
Combine in a small container 25-30 drops of the essential oil, the vitamin E oil, the wheat germ oil and rose hip seed oil mixing gently until all are combined.
Apply to the scar to encourage new tissue to form. Do not apply to open wounds until scar tissue has formed to fully close them.
Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil is a useful essential oil to help manage skin conditions and reduce scars and blemishes, thanks to its anti- inflammatory and skin healing properties. Add 4 drops of tea tree oil to 2 tablespoons of water. Use this diluted solution to wash the affected area 2 or 3 times a day.Alternatively, add 2 or 3 drops of tea tree oil to 1 teaspoon of almond oil. Apply it on the scar, leave it on for 30 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water. Use this remedy once daily.
